On August 29, 2014 in Naypyidaw  there was the first meeting of Russia-Myanmar inter-governmental commission for trade and economic cooperation.  The Russian Federation delegation was headed by the Minister for Economic Development of Russia Mr Alexey V Ulyukaev , The Republic of the Union of Myanmar  delegation was headed by the Minister for National Planning and Development Dr Kan Zaw. The Head of International Project Service of the NP “GLONASS” participated in the work of the commission where they also discussed issues of the cooperation in the field of satellite navigation. 

At the end of the commission’s meeting Russia and Myanmar delegations has confirmed their prospects for the cooperation in the field of navigation technologies based on GLONASS. The parties discussed satellite navigation technologies, products, industrial technologies, applications and services. The participants of the meeting think that the practice of developing Russian navigation industry can be successfully used in The Republic of the Union of Myanmar.

As priority GLONASS navigation technologies to be introduced they have chosen: managing forces and means of police and special services, creating a national accident emergency response system, creating a system to control and to manage municipal transportations, as well as ensuring passenger safety and creating a commercial transport control system. 
Now the parties are preparing a list of pilot projects in the field of satellite navigation based on GLONASS. The time schedule of  their implementation will be approved at  the second meeting of Russia-Myanmar inter-governmental commission for trade and economic cooperation.
